I go to Cumbria regularly and stay at Silloth in our static caravan. Silloth is not really on the way to anywhere but is a destination for those of us who have discovered it's beauty and charm. It has a long and interesting history. After package tour holidays became so popular it had gone into decline but now it is a vibrant holiday or short break destination. The Firth of Solway, the sunsets, the fresh sea breezes, the golf, the areas of natural beauty and it's old world character but with sympathetic new additions make it a delight. One of the main delights for me is the Bee Garden situated on the village green. It is beautifully planted and is a great draw for a magnificent number of pollinators. It is a gardening home from home for me as I too plant for pollinators. I always feel uplifted for having visited it and it is a great inspiration, the picture of me setting up the planter, top right, in my own garden, was inspired by the Silloth Bee Garden.
